West Bengal SSC to recruit teachers, officials

THE WEST  Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) was established on 1.4.1997 to recruit assistant teachers and headmasters in recognized non-government aided schools in West Bengal.
West Bengal's School Service Commission has proposed to fill applications on contract basis for the post of Data Base Administrator (2 Posts), Programmed Officer (2 Posts), UDC-cum-Accountant (1 post), Lower Division Clerk (1 post), Peon-cum-Guard (3 post), Data Entry Operator (3 post), and Programmed Officer (1 post).

Applications are invited for the post of Data Base Administrator (on contract) & Programmed Officer (on contract) and UDC-cum-Accountant (on contract) as mentioned in the Regulation IV of the Commission approved by the Government in School Education Department in the PB-4 with Pay Band Scale of Rs.9,000/- -40,500/- + Grade Pay of Rs.5,400/- and other allowances as admissible for contractual Employees in the Office of the Central Commission and for the post of UDC-cum-Accountant (on contract) against the Government sanctioned post in the PB-3 with Pay Band Scale of Rs.7100-37600/- plus Grade Pay of Rs.3600/- & other allowances as admissible for contractual employees in the Office of the Central Commission. The maximum age limit is 37 years.

Candidates should apply in plain paper with the curriculum vitae along with recent colored Passport sized photograph and enclose Xerox copy of all relevant testimonials of educational qualifications, Certificates, Age-proof and experience on similar nature of work, if any. The last date of submission of application to the Secretary, West Bengal Central School Service Commission is 16th April 2010, mentioning the name of the post applied for. Maximum age limit is 37 years as on 01.01.2010.

IIM Lucknow confers diploma to 316 students

THE CONVOCATION of Indian Institute of Management Lucknow saw 316 students being awarded their diplomas by Dr Devi Singh, director IIM Lucknow and Meleveetil Damodaran, ex-chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) who was the chief guest on the occasion and delivered the convocation address.

Two hundred and ninety-eight students from the 24th batch of Post Graduate Programme in Management, 18 students from the fifth batch of Post Graduate Programme in Agri-business Management and four students from the fellow programme were awarded their diplomas at the convocation. And as graduates, they are about to swell the ranks of about 3500 IIML alumni, whose continuing support helps build the institute's ongoing reputation and community support.
Ramya S was awarded with the Chairman’s Gold Medal along with Reshma Sareen Memorial Medal for Best Girl Student, while M Yugandhar received the Directors Gold medal. The other awards included PGP Chairman’s Medal which was received by Ram Kishan Agrawal, Budhiraja Medal for Best All Rounder went to Sharat Chander and Bizkool Medal for the Best Student in Information Technology was awarded to Ashutosh Agarwal.

“At IIM Lucknow we adopt a holistic approach to management education. Each graduating student is trained to be a manager of today and a leader of tomorrow, someone who governs with essence of conscientiousness and has a dynamic approach to any kind of situation at any level of organization,” says Dr Devi Singh, director, IIM Lucknow.

During the academic year 2009-10, the institute witnessed an all-round growth and in continuance with its march ahead, undertook some significant initiatives, which are listed below:
The Noida campus of the institute launched its fifth working managers programme (WMP) and international programme in management for executives (IPMX). A batch of 52 students in WMP programme successfully completed the course during the year.

Education system in pathetic condition at Indian campuses

INDIA MAY move towards hosting campuses of foreign universities, which the government described as a milestone that will enhance choices, increase competition and benchmark quality. But it failed to see what is the system and faculty in Indian campus education.
It is a shame that some national colleges have still a pathetic condition despite there names being registered among Asia’s best universities.
In Kolkata, fire exposed the need for trained personnel, while Nagpur fire engineering course lies suspended for four years. National Fire Service College (NFSC) campus, its most prestigious course- Bachelor of Engineering (Fire Engineering) designed to meet the demand for specially trained technical experts in fire fighting has been non-functional since last four years.

LIC recruitment 2010 commences for ADOs

LIFE INSURANCE Corporation of India, a government of India Company is planning to recruit more than 5578 Apprentice Development Officers. LIC India is one of the largest Insurance Sector company in India. It has a large number of professionals and agents working in LIC India.

LIC has invited applications for recruitment of 5578 ADOs for Its 8 Zones and Various Divisional offices across India. Online registration begins from 17 March 2010 and Last Date is 17 April 2010. the written test will be conducted on 13th June 2010.

NTSE 2010 - Results Declared

NTSE 2010 results are out. Check out the result on official website. Results are announced by the respective State Governments/ Union Territories and results of Stage-II examination are announced by NCERT.

National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The aspiration of the scheme was to identify talented students and sustain their talent. Talent refers to the conceivable that demonstrate itself in a high level of attainment in one or more developed areas.

The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honors and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship.

There are courses like Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph.D. level. For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation.

From the selection year 2010, the NCERT will conduct the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class VIII only.
